Hong Kong and Thailand confirm relaxation of Covid travel curbs

The most recent nations to ease Covid travel restrictions include Hong Kong and Thailand.

While Thailand is ending a countrywide Covid-19 emergency decree, Hong Kong has abolished the need for new visitors to stay in hotels under quarantine.

Foreign visitors to Hong Kong will be subject to testing at arrival rather than being obliged to present a pre-flight negative test result.

They must receive all vaccinations, go through three days of medical supervision, and then engage in a four-day self-monitoring process before being allowed to go out.

The Hong Kong government announced the end of the mandatory quarantine regulations and Cathay Pacific responded by adding more than 200 flights starting in October.

International travellers will no longer be required to provide proof of immunisation or test results from October 1, according to a statement from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Beginning in July 2021, the nation began to open up to foreign tourists. This was followed by a four-phase relaxation of regulations from October to January of this year.

Up until March 31, 2023, travellers who qualify for visa exemption will be allowed to stay for an increased duration of 45 days, up from 30 days, and 30 days rather than 15 days for those who qualify for a visa on arrival.
