CULTURE

There are so many cultural treasures to explore. The romantic walled city of Dubrovnik is a great place to start, with its UNESCO World Heritage Site old town, considered on of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. Only 20km south of the city is Cavtat, one of Croatia's best kept secrets. The story and history of the town is told through its beautiful architecture and is well worth a trip.


ISLANDS

You can get a real taste of island life by holidaying on on of these Croatian gems. Korcula has an enchanting old town and secluded beaches, perfect for chilling on. Olive oil and white wine is produced on Korcula so be sure to sample if you get the chance. Mljet is one of Dubrovnik's most enchanting green spaces. It's also a renowned destination for divers.



BEACHES

Hit the beach and relax on on of the small and secluded stretches dotted along the coast. For tranquility, head to the sandy beach at Lapad and enjoy the views out to sea. The promenade that backs the bay is dotted with cafes, ice cream parlours and restaurants as well as the odd cocktail bar. Cavtat is also a great coastal resort with a lovely promenade which takes you past some small and secluded beaches. Close by is Mlini, a lovely traditional resort with shallow pebble beaches, clear blue seas and hidden coves.


FOOD

Enjoy fresh grilled fish such as sea bream, sardines and sea bass infused with herbs and washed down with local white wine. Food is cooked in true Mediterranean style using olive oil, garlic, herbs and spices. Look out for Dalmatian prosciutto, which is usually served as an appetizer with olives and cheese. Seafood risotto or black risotto also features on menus and is made with squid and cuttlefish.


CYCLING

Whether you hit the mountains or the coast, the old towns in the countryside, explore Croatia's varied landscapes on two wheels. Close to Dubrovnik is Srebreno, a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts. There are some great walking and hiking paths, and the mountain trails are perfect for cycling. Spin through the beautiful pine forests before coming out for stunning views of the coastline.
